The Korean skin care routine is the cornerstone of trending skincare routines today. Many people have joined the trend and designed their six-step or nine-step skincare routine to achieve the glass skin and doll face of Korean celebrities and idols. But before trying out these routines, there is vital information you need to remember; the Korean skin care routine is not a one-size-fits-all type of care.

Here are the things you need to consider when trying out a Korean skin care routine:

1. Skin type

Each one of us has a unique skin type. Some may have oily skin, while others have hypersensitive skin. It is the reason why the foam cleanser your skincare guru recommended to you may not work.

Ensure the products are appropriate for our skin before trying them out. If you are prone to pimples, use cleansers for acne. If you have sensitive skin, use a cleanser for sensitive skin.

2. Skincare brands

Never trust rogue skincare products in the market. When buying one, always look for the manufacturing details of the product, expiry date, and ingredients.

Only purchase skincare products from reliable stores, such as supermarkets and pharmacies.

3. Active ingredients

Apart from the product brands, check the active ingredients of the skincare products you will buy. Active ingredients are the primary ingredients that deal with specific skin problems.

For example, if you need cleansers for acne, their active ingredients are possibly salicylic acid or sulphur.  When purchasing skincare products, look for their active ingredients.

4. Allergic reactions

It is also helpful if you can identify the difference between an allergic reaction and the effect of the product.

Read the label and instructions of your cleanser for oily skin before using them. They may indicate that the product may cause peeling, skin redness, and tingling sensation as side effects.

Meanwhile, allergic reactions are similar to the side effects; however, more severe and long-lasting than usual.

The most important tip is to consult a dermatologist before trying any skincare routines.
