How Can You Tell if You Should Buy That Second Hand Car?

· sell used car sg,recommended car deal,GOwheeler

Opting for second-hand cars is not a bad idea, especially in Singapore. I mean with all the requirements and documents that already cost much, finding used cars for sale in Singapore seems like a realistic choice.

However, there are things you need to be observant of before locking your target to a specific car. We don't want you to invest in a car that cannot even provide you with smooth acceleration.

From 10 meters away: Are the body panels even straight? Is it listing on one specific side? Either could say that a prior accident with underlying damage happened. If the bumps are minor (e.g. dings in the door), you can use that to haggle.

From 5 meters away: Are there missing trim pieces? Does the body paint still look firm and glossy, or is it bubbly, or brittle, or showing visible scratches? The condition of the exterior body can also help indicate if the car was involved in an accident or not.

Check under the hood: Check if there are oil leaks below the car? Is the engine compartment relatively clean, or are oily patches visible? Does the engine rev smoothly does it sound choppy? As the engine is the main component of the car, repairs to it or to the transmission can wipe out a significant chunk of your car-owning budget.

Take a look inside: Is the interior clean? Are the seatbelts worn out? Do all electrical features and systems work? Worn looking seatbelts tend to indicate lots of past use and should correlate to the stated mileage of the car. And modern cars are filled with electrical gadgets that are a major (and possibly expensive) bugbear to fix.

Try Getting Behind the Wheel: Is the air conditioning too cold? Are there strange sounds during acceleration, braking, or turning? Does the car pull away cleanly or are the transmission shifts jerky? Depending on the age and asking price, watch out for deal breakers unless you’re confident that the repair won’t be too costly.

If you aren’t confident in your abilities to gauge the car’s condition, bring along a car-savvy friend, or ask if the seller would allow an independent inspection by a trusted workshop. For a small fee, a workshop would be happy to do a thorough and professional check on the condition of the car, saving you potential headaches down the road.
