How to Maintain Construction Cranes?

· Crane Services

If you were to ask anyone where the coolest designed buildings in the world are, three out of five of them would answer the same thing—Singapore. To convince you more, why don't you use Google for a change, and search for it. By then, you would get the same answer, too. The truth is, Singapore has the most exceptional architecture that you can find. For sure, one of their shopping malls can serve as proof of how excellent they are, right? Even their airports are one of a kind, too. Well, all of these are possible, thanks to a machine called a crane and its parts.

This heavy lifting equipment makes the construction of these buildings a lot easier and faster, too! No wonder why there are a lot of skyscrapers in Singapore can leave you in awe. However, no matter how wonderful this creation is, it is still susceptible to wear and tear. Much more, if you do not perform proper maintenance. So, how would you maintain the seamless condition of your crane and its parts? Easy! All you have to do is become more meticulous in your operation. To give you a hand that they will last longer, take note of these tips. It would help you a lot about how to take care of your crane and its parts.

1. Inspect for wear and tear.
We all know that everything we see today will cease one day. That same goes with the crane you are using right now in your construction projects. Whether it is a Kato or Kobelco crane, its parts will lose its efficiency. You would no longer be able to use it the way it was before. However, that does not mean you can falter its progress. Well, the truth is, you can. By inspecting for wear and tear now and then, you will be able to see the condition of your crane. Doing so, you would be able to know what to do before the equipment starts malfunctioning.

2. Change the aged component.
Whenever you are inspecting for wear and tear, you will be able to notice whether your crane needs to replace its parts. For example, does the jib arm no longer move up and down? Does it seem stiff when you try operating it? If that is the case, its jib arm probably has rust, and the only way for it to use your crane well again is to replace its aged component.

3. Keep clean and dry the equipment.
Aside from changing the worn parts of your Sumimoto crane or other brands, you should also need to keep them clean and dry. That way, your heavy lifting equipment would not develop any rust later on. You see, unkempt cranes are susceptible to wear and tear. The more dust and debris it has, the more it will lose its overall performance. So, make sure to clean those machines thoroughly.

4. Lubricate parts when needed.
Similar to a car, your crane will get stiff in the long run if you do not lubricate its parts. You see, for its chain hoist to work, there should not be any grit to sound the chain. Well, to make that happen, you have to apply some lubrication oil before using it. That way, it would move smoothly during operation, and you would not have a hard time operating it.

5. Stock some readily available spare parts.
We all know that life is indeed unpredictable. Accidents could happen at any time, especially in the construction industry. So, to help you avoid or be ready in those unfortunate circumstances, you would need to store some crane parts in your inventory. That way, you can quickly replace its part whenever and wherever you may be.

6. Never overuse any machine.
Otherwise, it would not work well according to your needs. You see, this heavy lifting equipment is like your smartphones, you have to let rest for a while before using it again. That way, you will be able to use it for a longer time. That same goes with your crane and its parts. For those to operate to its full potential, you have to know when you can and cannot use it.

7. Conduct training and seminars to your employees.
Whoever operates your brand should know best on how to use it. That way, you can rest assured that no accidents will ever happen. Ever there is one, they should know better on how to handle it. So, make sure to train and let your employees attend seminars. It would help them get ready for any unexpected events.
