Why I Started CrossFit

I am a career woman. I dedicated most of my time working in the office. I make sure to check everything to avoid jeopardizing my career. As a result, I neglected my body and I end up getting so fat. Fortunately, a personal fitness coach in Singapore helped me get back in shape.

Changing Myself for the Better

I felt so sad when I saw my reflection in the mirror. I gained a lot of pounds compared when I just started in the corporate world. I was so busy with work that I almost don’t have for myself anymore. I can’t even join family reunions and enjoy get-togethers. Because of this, I decided that it was time to focus on myself. First, I need to start exercising not only to burn the excess fat on my body but also to improve my health. I later found out from my doctor that I have high blood pressure because I was obese. I felt like I wanted to cry when I heard it from an actual doctor. I thought back then, “what have I done to myself?”. Ever since that day, I became determined to bring back my slim, fit body.

My CrossFit Experience

At first, I was confused about what kind of workout should I follow. I tried searching for various workouts online but it didn’t do much help since there was overwhelming information on the Internet. Good thing, I have a close friend of mine who introduced me to CrossFit. He had been doing it for 3 months at that and I saw how toned his body was. So, I decided to try it out myself and went to their CrossFit gym in Singapore. Here are some of the things that I liked about during the training.

  1. The Coach

The first and foremost thing that I liked about this CrossFit gym in Singapore is my personal fitness coach. I never thought I would be able to get along with her since I am kind of an introverted person. It would be difficult for me to get close to strangers. But because of her positive and congenial attitude, it only took a few weeks before I became comfortable training with her.

She also shows a sense of professionalism. Even though we became friends, she knows when to draw the line between work and play. We still have friendly chitchats in between workouts but she would make sure that we would strictly follow the schedule for that day. Even though there were quite a lot of people in the box, she would not lose her focus and she would make sure that I don’t get hurt in the process.

Another notable trait that she posses is that she’s patient. She understands that I am just new to lifting weights so she didn’t push me at first, and gradually increased the level of difficulty until I can handle the stage in which I have to push myself to the limits. There were times that I felt like giving up but she continued to cheer me on to motivate me to do better.

  1. The Gym

When I first visited their CrossFit gym in Singapore, I was impressed with all the equipment I have seen. Even though I am not knowledgeable about CrossFit equipment I can see at first glance that they are durable and reliable to use. I asked my coach about their equipment and I later found out that they use Eleiko products. They told me that Eleiko is a world-class brand when it comes to gym equipment. I also learned that they are the first-ever CrossFit box gym in Asia that uses Eleiko. When I heard about this, I was glad that I chose this gym and I paid quite a handsome amount to be trained here.

During my training, I haven’t experienced any accidents due to defective equipment. Because of this, I felt assured that I won’t get any injuries using their gym equipment. Plus, I have my personal coach with me so it’s safe to do workouts in their box.

  1. The Schedule and Location

Another great thing about this CrossFit gym is that they are near the train station. It’s located around Pasir Panjang, and it’s just a few minutes walk from the station. This is advantageous for me because I haven’t bought a car yet. I do not want to always ride and pay for a taxi because taxis are quite expensive during peak hours.

Also, the schedule is very favourable for me! I can do my training after work since there is an evening schedule! In this way, I don’t have to sacrifice work just to get a toned, body.


I highly recommend Set Free’s CrossFit gym. My personal training in their gym in Singapore was one of the best things that I have ever done in my life!
